Privacy

Short version

• The microphone is used only after you press Start tuner, and your browser asks you first.
• Microphone sound is processed only on your device to find the pitch. It is never recorded, saved or sent.
• No account, no sign-up, no cookies and no email collection.
• No advertising and no affiliate links at the moment.

The microphone

The tuner reads short slices of sound from the microphone and calculates the pitch in your browser. The sound is discarded straight away. The page has no code that records, uploads or stores audio. The microphone is switched off when you press Stop, when you switch to another tab or app, and when you leave the page. You can withdraw permission at any time in your browser’s site settings.

What is stored on your device

On the home page, the tuning you last chose (for example Low G) is saved in your browser’s local storage, so it is selected next time. This happens only when you change the tuning. Clear the site data in your browser to delete it.

What is processed

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect them. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies and does not build profiles of visitors.

Changes

If advertising or an optional email list is added later, for example free printable chord sheets, this page will be updated before that starts, and any sign-up will always be optional.
